Dr. Ravindra Nanda is an inventor of various appliances in orthodontics and is the chair of division in the University Of Connecticut. In 2004, he was promoted as the Head of the Department to lead the team of Craniofacial Sciences, which includes, the divisions of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Advanced Education in General Dentistry, and Orthodontics.
Dr. Nanda has authored seven textbooks and edited more than 200 publications and journals. He is an active speaker and has delivered lectures in more than 40 countries. He has been awarded several times and is the honorary member of various orthodontic societies. A few of them are:
• European Orthodontic Society: Dr. Ravindra Nanda was awarded Sheldon Friel Memorial Lecture, in the field of orthodontics. This award is given to those who present the best research paper and the best poster for orthodontics. The aim of the participants is to deliver original and unpublished research in their specialization at the annual congress of European Orthodontic Society.
• John Taylor Lecture: This award is given to that overseas lecturer, who has visited a number of orthodontic departments in Australia to deliver lectures to the students of orthodontics. As Dr. Nanda was a keynote speaker, he gave lectures to various students in and off their universities; he was awarded this lectureship.
• John Mershon Memorial Lecture: Dr. Nanda was given an award for his lecture on “Achieving Treatment Goals with Predictable Mechanics: a 40-year Perspective”. This award is administered by America Association of Orthodontics, in honor of John Mershon.
• Indian Orthodontic Society: This is the first specialty society in India for all the orthodontists. Dr. Nanda was honored with a Life Time Membership by the president of Indian Orthodontic Society at 8th Asian Pacific orthodontic conference.
Currently, Professor Ravindra Nanda is an active member of EOS, AAO, IADR, HDC, and the College of Diplomats of the American Board of Orthodontists. He is serving in the field of orthodontics from past 4 decades.
